As expected of a "smart enough" fanbase, the middle school aged viewers brought the world to a sudden stop over the death of cartoon character and not, for example, the other countries who can blow them to the high heavens any second.
Only two weeks later did Brian return from the dead, also in the most poorly written way possible. MacFarlane alleged this whole fiasco was not an attempt to improve the show in any way or at least add some fresh air, but a "lesson" to the fans. The world was not fooled, as anyone can tell it was all just a cry for attention for the show.
