The Great Mouse Depression

The Great Mouse Depression is a YTP created by Power Cat Productions and released on March 13th, 2020. It spoofs the 1986 Disney film, "The Great Mouse Detective." It also contains references to The Avengers: Endgame, Horrible Histories, The Sopranos and Breaking Bad.

Plot

Part I

Doctor Dawson returns home after watching "A Quiet Place," and encounters Thanos and Spiderman dancing. He meets Basil of Baker Street, who proceeds to shoot him, although he survives. Olivia is later kidnapped by Fidget who leaves behind a list. After causing a nuclear explosion, Basil deduces that the list came from the Krusty Krab. The duo enter the restaurant disguised as sailors. Squidward takes their orders but freaks out when Basil says they are looking for Heisenberg. The Penguins of Madagascar then perform "Come Out Ye Black and Tans," which moves the crowd, but when Ms. Kitty attempts to perform, she is stopped by Rattus Rattus who is angered by its sexual nature. Later that night, Squidward finally brings them their drinks. Basil deduces that they are drugged, but is too late to warn Dawson who begins belching loudly after digesting them and accidently starts a bar fight, during which Charles Edward Stuart and Thanos brawl. Basil and Dawson escape into what is apparently a brothel.

Part II

At the queen's jubilee, the robotic queen tries to assure the people that she has a solution to the 'starvin bullshit,' but the people don't believe her. She then introduces Ratigan, who walks out nude which disgusts the townspeople. Meanwhile, Basil rescues the real queen and kills Fidget. Ratigan begins reading off his new laws for the people, which include raising taxes on the elderly, which angers Hector Salamanca. Basil then takes control of the robotic queen and demands Ratigan say his name, Heisenberg, which triggers Ratigan. Hector Salamanca then self detonates, which blows Ratigan all the way to Big Ben. Six hours later, on top of the clock tower, Basil and Ratigan engage in a Street Fighter fight. Ratigan easily overpowers Basil and throws him off Big Ben and wins a flawless victory. The closing credits reveal that Ratigan was crowned king of the United Kingdom later that same day, and that he rebuilt the British Empire. It also reveals that Basil, who survived the fall off Big Ben later quit being a detective, moved to America and became a potato farmer while Hector Salamanca began cooking Meth in order to pay off now higher taxes imposed by Ratigan, and that Dawson became his assistant.
